Cosplay? You Learn Something New Every Day
Nothing makes you feel older and more out of touch than a new fad (sometimes not so new) that is sweeping the country, or in this case the world, about which you have no knowledge. One of the girls came into my office the other day to ask me about cosplay. I don't know. What is it? "You don't know what cosplay is?" Nope. Is that bad?
This morning I found out. Lots of giggling in the hallway followed by a knock on my door led me to witness the opening of a Christmas gift that was surely intended for her eyes only. Our secretary received some cheap kinky lingerie - the princess, the cat, the devil, complete with hair accessories - and the office watched as she pulled out one inappropriate outfit after another.
The devil's outfit had a garter which none of the girls understood, and I found myself in the awkward position of having to explain it. Everyone seemed to grasp the significance of the g-string underwear. The girls tried on the hair accoutrement's and the guys stood back and giggled. "Would I look like an idiot if I wear the furry pink Micky Mouse (???) ears on Christmas?" No. I think that would be appropriate.
Cosplay. It appears to be a website or series of them devoted to the sharing of costume information.
Who knew?
