Good Thing it is OK for Chinese Children

China signed an agreement Tuesday promising an immediate halt in the use of lead paint on toys exported to the US, AP reported. As part of the deal, which was unveiled at the second US-China summit on consumer product safety, Beijing will also increase inspections of its exports and take action to ensure products meet US standards. This will include joint efforts to educate manufacturers and exporters on safety standards and monthly meetings between US and Chinese regulators on the latest recall activity. The agreement comes after Chinese manufacturers used lead paint in toys that were then supplied to US company Mattel and others, prompting a number of product recalls. Lead paint has been banned on toys made in the US since 1978.
