Chinese Illness Reports
If I had to come up with a complaint about the people in my office it would not be easy. The dress code leaves a bit to be desired, but they work hard and are incredibly kind people. However, when pressed:
A recent survey shows that in China, more than 70% of the office workers have stomach troubles, with most being young and middle-aged people. The Chinese won't tolerate any amount of discomfort. Any pain at all, even potential pain, any I'm getting a phone call: "I'm not coming into the office today because I was rained on getting off the bus yesterday afternoon and my nose is running. I'm going to the hospital." What? I've received that call more than once. I've also had "I got my period today and I have some cramps. I'm not coming in." Ok. Didn't need to know that. Take the week off.
The survey was conducted by Life Times, covering about 10,000 people, most of them being white collars, company managers, or public servants at the age of 20-40. The survey shows that 92.3% of the respondents have stomach problems for at least once. Among this group of people, 34.17% often suffer from stomachaches and 5.47% even have stomach problem everyday.
