4th of July Festivities

AmCham had its annual 4th of July party this past weekend. I did not attend. Again this year. It's just too hot.

Tonight, the Consul General had his cocktail party which I attended because it was held in an air conditioned place. Plus it was the Consul General.

The acting head of Commercial Services was in attendance. He is a very nice fellow and is getting ready to move back to the States for his next post. He will be greatly missed. The new Director of Commercial Services was at the party as well. I had spoken to him on the phone (his previous post was in Beijing), and he appeared helpful and very competent. We are exceptionally lucky in Shanghai. The people who come to work here are very talented and very committed.

Both of these gentlemen are Thailand fans, and it is always worth exchanging stories and getting tips for new places to explore. I tend to keep going back to the same spots (Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya) so I appreciate recommendations.
